Welcome to Fownhope Pre-School Playgroup

Fownhope Pre-School Playgroup, a registered charity, was established in the 1960's and has grown into a large popular organisation. It is a fully registered group. We run five mornings a week from a classroom situated in St Mary's School, Fownhope. 

Children attend from a wide area ranging from Hereford to Ross-on-Wye and can be admitted from 2 ½ years until they progress into primary education.

The Pre-School is run by an elected Committee which ensures that major decision making is in the hands of the parents who use the group. The Committee are responsible for reviewing both policy and practice and for the employment and appraisal of members of staff. Our Annual General Meeting at which the Committee for the following year is elected is held each September and parents are informed in good time so that they are able to attend.

Aims

The aims of the group are:-

• Provide high quality care and education for children primarily below statutory school age
• Work in partnership with parents to help children to learn and develop
  Add to the life and well-being of its local community 
• Offer children and their parents a service which promotes equality and values diversity

We offer our children

• A safe and stimulating environment 
• Generous care and attention because of our high ratio of adults to children 
• The chance to join with other children and adults to play, work and learn together 
• Help to take forward her/his learning and development by being helped to build on what she/he already knows and can do 
• A personal key worker who helps to make sure your child is progressing well

Hours

The Pre School Playgroup runs 

• Monday 9.00 am - 3.00 pm
• Tuesday 9.00 am - 3.00 pm
• Wednesday 9.00 am - 12.00pm
• Thursday 9.00 am - 3.00 pm
• Friday 9.00 am - 3.00 pm

Fownhope Tots

A 'mother and toddler' group is also run from the playgroup room each Wednesday, in term time, from 1.30 pm - 3.00 pm at a cost of £1.50. No booking is required for this group.
